I Met a Genius

I met a genius on the train
today
about 6 years old,
he sat beside me
and as the train
ran down along the coast
we came to the ocean
and then he looked at me
and said,
it's not pretty.

it was the first time I'd
realized
that.

Let me get my geek on

I just discovered the Sony Ericsson Clicker, which allows me to control iTunes, Powerpoint, Keynote, and Apple's DVD player all from my Sony Ericsson T68 cell phone using Bluetooth. How wicked is that? You can also set it up so when you leave the room with your phone, iTunes will pause and will resume when you come back... all automatically.

Brrrrr

So I'm back here in cold Nashville. Quite a change from the 60º I was enjoying just yesterday.

Yesterday's travel was pretty non-eventful, though I was asked if my bag contained a knife at the security checkpoint in Oakland. They searched my bag for about 5 minutes looking for a knife that the x-ray machine had found. Of course, there was no knife but for some reason, I still felt guilty. Why is that?

Once in Dallas, I had to board one of those little jets to Nashville. You know, the kind of plane that you have to walk across the airport tarmac to board. You can't be comfortable in these planes unless you love the person you're sitting next to. Let's just say I was uncomfortable.

I had a great time and wish I could be back. I'm really planning to move back by June. A friend here in Nashville is moving there then and we may share a Uhaul.

Well, back to my routine.

Geary

I'm sitting at the Oakland airport now (gotta love wireless internet access) about to board my flight back to Nashville through Dallas. I'm glad I'm not going anywhere near the Northeast today. You guys have it bad with that snow.

The trip was great and I got to do a lot and see a lot. I think I took about 250 pictures total! I will post some of my favorites when I get back.

It's beautiful here today

ocean beach

Lots going on here in SF this weekend. Yesterday was Chinese New Year's and the celebration here has been dubbed the largest one outside of Hong Kong. Doesn't look like the rain kept anyone way. Today is the peace rally.

So far, it's been really nice to be back. I stepped off the plane on Friday and almost screamed with delight. Immediately, I saw things and places that I remember when I lived here... like Chevy's, In N Out, Round Table Pizza, Carl's Jr, Safeway, just to name a few. I hopped in my rental car (they gave me the satellite radio upgrade for free) and drove to the East Bay to see my old stomping grounds. The first thing I did was check my storage space to see if my things were still there. Yep. I was kind of worried cause my friend told me that it looked like someone tried to jimmy with the lock. Well, they did. I put my key in and it broke! I had to get the manager to cut the lock off. Bunch of savages in this town.

Then I headed in to San Francisco. I'm staying in Japantown which is awesome. Yesterday we spent the day in Sausalito and Marin and it was beautiful. The weather has been dreary, but that won't ruin this trip. Today, however, is sunny so I'm sure there will be plenty of picture taking.

It's good to be back. More later...

I'm in San Francisco

Flying across the country to surprise someone for Valentine's Day can be a risky endeavor. Filled with anxiety, you really don't know how the other person will react when they see you. Will they be overjoyed or will they file a restraining order? It's a gamble and if you play your cards right, everyone will be happy.

I'm leaving on a jet plane

"Do you want me to tell you something subversive? Love is EVERYTHING it's
cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is
worth fighting for, being brave for, sacrificing for, and risking everything
for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more."

Lonesome tears

This is the last piece of this series. All photos were taken in 2000 while on the BART in San Francisco. They represent a different time in my life.

Your eyes catch the light
With the promises that might
Come true for a while
