On a Friday

Looks like Pitchfork has quoted me about the recent discovery of rare On a Friday (Radiohead's name before they signed to EMI) demo songs.

For those who have listened to them, do you think they're real? I think they are, well, at least most of them. Some of them could be fake. Regardless, they all sound like crap, in my opinion. I'm so glad that Radiohead doesn't sound like that anymore! Still, it's nice to hear some of their early early work.

If you haven't heard them yet, you can download them here. I'm not sure how long they'll be up.

I'm pretty sure they are all real.

And, well, I wouldn't say they're all like crap.. Kind of interesting to hear the early versions of "How can you be sure" and "Maquiladora". And the version of "Give it up" is really really cool..

But.. cool is maybe a better word than good..

You don't realize how famous you really are, Jonny. Regardless, I think they're real. And yes, they are awful. Mostly. But, that's okay.

yeah, they're not all crap, i guess. actually, Rattlesnake had my head bobbing.. hehe...

i kinda know those pitchfork guys, i've talked to them in the past so i'm not surprised they did this story. now, i've been waiting months for the Spin magazine interview I did in January to come out.. lol.. i guess it's not going to. :)

oh, whenever i find the time, i'm going to upload some audio of the time i was on BBC Radio 1's Battle of the Fans where I lost... hehe...

The real question is: if you were a record exec, would you sign On A Friday based on material like that? Guess I'm glad someone did.

I've heard a few of them now and the one's I've heard have been quite crap, but has it come to the point of me getting music just because it was done by Radiohead many years ago and not because it's any good?... I suppose it has! Cool.

This is quite a big thing if these are real, I mean a decade's gone and they've only just been found. I wonder if Radiohead have heard about this story. I wonder where the origional copy is right now.
