Raining

There's something relaxing when it's grey and raining... It's hard to explain.

GP may be down for a couple of days, unfortunately. I've found a new hosting company, www.hosting4less.com, that some of you have recommended. They have "high volume" packages and are upfront about how much bandwidth you can use instead of saying "unlimited bandwidth" when that's not the case like my current hosting company, Cihost.com.

So, I have the new server now but cihost will not allow me to get in to greenplastic.com via FTP to retrieve some important files that I need so I can transfer to the new server. I've put in the request three times to allow me in but I still have yet to hear from them. It's not like I owe them any money or anything...

So, once I get that resolved, I'll transfer all the GP files to the new server (which allows over double the amount of bandwidth which should be enough, though the server costs $70 a month which is a lot for me but not half as bad as some dedicated servers cost).

In other news, I took my Dad to get Lasik eye surgery at Vanderbilt Hospital yesterday. The doctor who did it is apparently the best in the World, Ming Wang. It's amazing that they can put a laser to your eye and fix your eyesight in a matter of minutes. After the surgery, my Dad, who's worn glasses all his life, could see pretty well but things were still blurry and hazey. For his age, it'll take some time for eyes to fully adjust and for eyesight be perfect.

I had a wonderful lunch date today at Pargos. It's very rare that I get to take such a beautiful girl out to eat. :) hehe...

Pale Blue Eyes

I feel myself coming out of my rut. The past year has been a rebuilding year for me and I've basically neglected a lot of things in my life, especially relationships with people that are close to me.

I came home today to find a message on my answering machine from a close friend that I have not spoken to since last March when I left San Francisco. She found my number while in town for Thanksgiving which was nice cause I really had no way to get in touch with her back in SF.

I went to high school with this girl but never talked to her, only seeing her in the hallways between classes. It wasn't until the last month of Senior year that I became friends with her. That was over 5 years ago. She's been someone I can talk to and like all of my friends, I care for her a lot. She was the only person I knew in California when I first moved there and I'm not sure what I would of done without her being there.

Anyway, after listening to the message I quickly called her and immediately drove over to see her.

So, today started out as a crap Monday but ended quite nicely and I'm happy that I'm back in contact with her. I can feel myself come out of my year long rut...

November 15, 1993

Today is a very special day to me. 'Nuff said....

My horoscope:

Jupiter in Cancer makes a square aspect to the Moon in Libra, which may mean that you are not quite sure how to react to an event or a meeting with someone quite significant. The New Moon in Scorpio may spell the beginning of a month of transformation and profound changes that may well be the first step toward a long cherished dream. Mars makes a trine aspect to Saturn, which means that one particular social occasion may yield a longstanding friendship with someone who could also prove to be a source of advice and support in times of difficulty.

I just love Pulp

oh yeah...

Then when you're naked

I guess you must be unemployed, yeah?

But once it's underway

There's no escaping

The fact that you're a girl and he's a boy, oh

Today is a lucky day...

...for those who remain cheerful and optimistic.

The past week has not been a good one for me. My new job totally sucks and I'm just aching to leave and get back to be doing something creative like graphic/web design. Hopefully things will change soon and get back to where I need to be.

On a positive note, today I had quite the lovely day going to see Shallow Hal at the theater with a good friend. Okay, the movie was under par but you just gotta love Jack Black from Tenacious D!

What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.

I think I would make a great husband if Bjork was my wife

So I have this dream last night, okay? It was absolutely crazy. My dreams are usually pretty lame and boring but this one was different. I don't remember much but I do remember it had something to do with a wedding chapel, Bjork hitting on me, losing money playing roulette in Vegas, and countless other oddities. Silly Bjork and I were at this concert or something and she kept on touching my arm and winking and stupid me didn't get the hint (I'm usually slow with these types of things) until we magically appeared in a wedding chapel. Man oh man.... this is what happens to your brain when you quit caffeine. Hehehe....

Speaking of Bjork, I have been listening to her new album a lot lately. At first I didn't really think much of it but I've grown to love it.

I've been playing with my iBook a lot and am still in love with it. I just finished up watching Harmony Korine's movie Julien Donkey Boy on DVD. It lives up to the Korine style by being weird and difficult, but you still got to love it! I think I like Gummo better, though.

Green Plastic is back up but now another problem has popped up. The domain name (www.greenplastic.com) still hasn't been pointed to my new server so when visitors go to the site, they get a 404 error. Argh! Hopefully things should get back to normal by week's end.

It's such a beautiful day today that I feel like being outside. Maybe I will....

My new toy

I am writing this on my brand spankin' new Apple iBook! I got it yesterday and let me just say that this is the finest piece of technology that I have ever seen or used. I was really wanting the Titanium G4 Powerbook but due to money issues, I chose the G3 iBook. I'm glad I did.

The first thing I noticed was how crisp the screen was. Everything is clear and fluid and when I popped in my Memento DVD, I was blown away at the sharpness and detail. It actually looks better than DVDs on my TV!!!

OS X is very nice too. After being a Windows user for a long time, it's nice to have something new and cool to play with. I've been wanting to switch to Mac for a long time but it was always the wrong time financially until now.

Overall, the new Apple iBook is sleek and sexy. Go and get yourself one!

In other news, some of you may have noticed that www.greenplastic.com is offline. I am aware of it and am trying to get it back up. The problem is again with the server. GP was generating SO MUCH traffic that my host shut it down even though they said "unlimited bandwidth" which I found out is just a misleading attempt to get you to sign up.

So, the site should be back up soon and then I will once again have to find a new hosting company. If any one knows of any hosts out there that offer about 1 gig of disk space and 40 - 50 GB of transfer per month, please email me!

Ciao!
