Goodbye Classic!!!

Hell yes! Macromedia released preview versions of Dreamweaver MX and Fireworks MX today! This means no more booting in to Mac OS 9 (Classic) to do most of my web work!

Mac OS X is getting sweeter every day. :)

Temptation Body Shop

You can imagine my delight to receive a phone call to my mobile phone earlier this afternoon by the auto body shop that has been working on my car for the past week. Finally, my car was finished! So, I drove the piece of crap Cavalier rental for the last time and made my way to the body shop.

So there I am, checkbook in hand, at the cashier station ready to pay for the damages and get my key. The insurance company had sent me a check for the damages ($800) earlier and I had deposited it in to my bank account last Friday. The cashier said, "Well, you don't pay anything now. The insurance company is sending us the check for the damages." I stood there for a few seconds and thought about what she had just said. I had $800 in my bank account from the insurance company and this lady was now telling me that they were expecting a check for the same amount and to not pay anything. To say that I was tempted to say "Okay!" and run out of there with my key would be an understatement.

But my conscience and gut made me blurt out, "I've already been sent a check and was told that I would have to pay you today." This caused her to have a puzzled look like she had never seen someone actually be honest about something before. She thanked me for my honesty while I was silently kicking myself in the head for big mouth. I wrote my check and got my key and drove off. I could of used that money, too... hehe... But I know the insurance company would be calling me the next day about it.

At least the car was fixed and is now smiling in my driveway. :)

Ouch

Ooohh... ouch. Went by the body shop earlier today to see my car since they are still working on it. It looks like they still have some work to do as the bumper and tail lights are missing... *cringes*

*Updates his calendar*

Woohoo! Just found out that Mogwai is touring soon and will be heading to Louisville, KY on May 24! It's a few hours away from me but definitely worth it!

This makes my day. :)

Uhm

Yeah, this has been passed around the internet like a virus so you've probably already seen it. I'm not sure if the angle of this photo makes it "interesting" or if the people who designed the LPGA trophy had a crazy sense of humor. Hehe...

I had to say goodbye...

Today I dropped off my poor VW Jetta (aka Black ) at the body shop. They say that "hopefully" it'll be ready by Friday but I sort of doubt it. The guy said it was really hard to get VW parts. I should know... My last car, a VW Golf, was in the body shop for 3 months, after I totaled it by crashing into a median wall at 70mph while dodging a damn wooden chair in the middle of the interstate. It sat there in the body shop for 3 months until they finally decided to total the car and give me a check for the car's value.

This time, it's only a few scratches and some minor dents that need to be repaired that were caused by my little parking lot incident recently.

So, I'm set up with a 2000 Chevy Cavalier rental car. First off, sorry to all you Cavalier owners but this car absolutely blows monkey vomit. Haha... The doors are freakin' huge it's insane. It's like opening a submarine hatch when I'm trying to get out.

It's not that bad, really. At least it's not a Metro. My grandaddy long-legs would never fit in that car!

Sunday in a far away state of mind

When you stand out among the others,
which you always do,
I can see and smell and sense your wonderful beauty.
You dry my rain, and wet my fire
for you have the unbelievable power
to make good out of not good,
beauty out of not beauty,
love out of not love.

I can see your warmth from this desolate island I call myself,
ever so radiant as the seas carry your love to my feet.

I love R.E.M.

Dusk is dawn is day

Where did it go?

I've been laughing

Fast and slow

Moving in a still frame

Howling at the moon

Morning found me laughing

Up and down, down

Low low low

Night suits me fine

and morning suits me fine

I've been so happy

Way up high, high

In between

Down below

Low low low

I skipped the part about love

It seems so silly and low

Low low low

Low low low

I said the morning

It isn't your time

Barefoot naked

I can see your lines

It doesn't bother me

That you are right

Your grass is grassy wet

Your light white is bright

Light white light

I skipped the part about love

It seems so shallow and low

Low low low

Low low low

You and me

We know about time

We know how things go

They come and go

They live and grow

They pass and go

And glow and glow

Up and down

High and low

Low low low

Low low low

I skipped the part about love

It seems so silly and low

I skipped the part about love

It seems so shallow and low

Low low low

Low low low

I like your hands

All full of glory

All full of glory

Thunderstorms

Yesterday I drove South down the Natchez Trace Parkway to the Tennessee/Alabama border and then back up Highway 43 through Columbia back to Nashville. The day was perfect for being outdoors and driving around listening to great music.

On the way back, you could see a huge storm coming. There's something amazing about seeing a storm forming and coming at you. Luckily, I took a of it.

Back in action!

My hosting company had a "severe power outage" a couple of days ago so that would explain the site being down. Thankfully it is back up now!!!

I get "interesting" emails all the time. This one is no different:

This is pretty random of myself,  but if you want a unique drink, take nerds (the little sugar coated, colored, flavored pieces of sugar candies) and add them to sprite.  when you add the first few nerds, the sprite  fizzes up a lot, so keep the lid VERY handy.  after a while though, the carbonation will go down and you can add the rest of the container of nerds.  shake it a bit until the nerds have disolved.  refrigirate if you want to.  drink. it tastes good (like a fruit punch drink).  hope you try it.  radiohead is a  supporter of "liquid nerds" as they are called. or im sure they would be.

You look like a perfect fit

I tell you, the cross-fading feature in iTunes 2 is awesome! I'm my own little radio DJ!

Oh, I was bored tonight and therefore I let myself redesign the site, even though I promised myself last month that I would leave that version up for a while. I lack self control. ;)

And this weeks completes my first month without caffeine. This is the longest I've ever gone without it and I feel so much better. Let's see how long I last...

OK Computer

Believe it or not, I actually listened to OK Computer today for the first time in about a year and a half. It was refreshing, to say the least, and it brought me back to the marvelous year that was 1997. I can still remember buying the album in Montreal that Summer and listening to it for the first time through while driving out of the city and back to Upstate NY. What a great year...

You may just be on the other side of this map, but you're so far in reality that I cringe when I think about the time when, outside of Montreal, you bought that two dollar necklace with the huge, I mean HUGE, fake diamond from the gumball machine. You let me keep it and I cherish it. I want to make more memories like that with you.

--from 1997

Now where's my copy of The Bends. 1995, now that was a year! hehe...

It's definitely Monday, for sure

Well, Mondays suck, and today was no exception.

After a long day at work, I walk out to my car to go home and notice someone hit "Black " right on her left back fender. Fortunately, the only damage appears to be large scratches. I was pissed, as you can imagine and the person who violated my car like this was nowhere to be found. "Great," I thought, "a hit and run in a damn parking lot!" I walked around and examined the other cars nearby and couldn't find the guilty vehicle. Then I see this woman running over towards me with a security guard apologizing for hitting me. It turns out, this woman was trying to pull in to the parking space next to me but because the parking spaces are too small (what were they thinking?), she misjudge the angle she drove her pickup truck and it hit my car. She apologized and I was relieved that she came forward. I wasn't mad... slightly irritated, maybe... but not mad. These things happen... We sat there cause the security guard called the police and we had to wait to they arrived. About 15 minutes later, she gave me her insurance info and the policeman wrote up a report and I was on my way back home. I was lucky the policeman didn't realize that my license plates had expired last month... hehe....

So, then I get home and check the huge amount of email I receive on a daily basis about Radiohead (you know, questions like "when is Radiohead coming to Indiana" and stuff like that... heh) and I get an email from a lawyer who claims that her law firm has been receiving hundreds of emails from greenplastic.com containing the nimda virus. I could tell she was really pissed by the way she wrote the email. I emailed her back to get more specifics and she told me to call her which I did. Turns out she doesn't know much about computers so she couldn't give me a lot of info about what is happening. She told me to speak with a guy named Bill, which I haven't heard back from yet.

Okay, first of all... greenplastic.com is hosted on a unix server so it cannot be infected by the nimda virus. Second of all, I'm on a Mac running OS X so the emails did not come from me. It will be interesting to get the IP address of the emails sent that apparently destroyed a lot of "important law documents." Regardless, she was not happy and I was just waiting for her to say "legal action" but she didn't, thank god. She actually calmed down by the end of the phone call. Now I just need to find out what is going on...

sheesh

Get your putt on!

Really, if it's a nice day outside, you should really be out of the house enjoying nature's technology and not that evil computer screen. But, if the day is icky, why don't you play a nice game of mini-putt. I'm addicted.

My friend Colleen from California surprised me last night by saying that she was in town! We're off to get pancakes at the legendary Pancake Pantry.

Ciao!

Oh my

April showers

bring Mayflowers

and what do Mayflowers bring?

Pilgrims!

:)

I finished reading Ham on Rye yesterday and out of the three Bukowski books I've read this year, this one was my favorite. He has such a way of writing... it's almost intoxicating.

My Easter was okay... a bag of jelly beans is more than enough to keep me happy. ;)

And today, Google revealed the technology behind their amazing accuracy! Who knew? Haha...
