The new Sigur Ros

sleepwalker (5k image)

The new Sigur Ros site is up now. As you can see, it's very simple and clean, which is what they were looking for. It wasn't really what I had invisioned at first but I think it came out well. There is still lots to be done, including building out a content management system. Also, I would like to see the navigation and sections redone. Due to the amount of time I had, I couldn't restructure the layout of the site. I was responsible for the overall look of the site and had help with the content part by others. Many thanks to Bjorn and the whole crew!

Make sure to get the new album today unless you're like me and in the US. We have to wait until tomorrow.

Argh

Damn, I want to see Punch-Drunk Love! I've been waiting for this film for some time as I think PT Anderson is a genious. Because Nashville is retarded, it looks like I'll have to wait a while becuase it's not opening here this weekend. However, Knoxville gets it! What? Knoxville?! C'mon now... Sheesh.

Someone get me out of here... lol

Tonight's soundtrack provided by PJ Harvey

What were you wanting?

I just want to say

Don't ever change

And thank you

I don't think we will meet again

I really must leave now

Before the sunrise

Above skyscrapers

The sin and

This mess we're in

(expletive)

Today's Tennessean has posted the transcript of Ryan Adam's voice mail message to writer Peter Cooper:

Rocker and one-time Nashvillian Ryan Adams made quite an impression at his Ryman show Monday night. Tennessean music writer Peter Cooper described an incident in which Ryan went off on a guy who jokingly requested a Bryan Adams song, a story that now has been reported around the world. Peter also wrote a less-than-flattering review.

Ryan left Peter a less-than-flattering voice mail. Here 'tis:

''You're just so smart, aren't you, man? You're so (expletive) smart. 'I'm so smart. I'm so post-collegiate with all my (expletive) little references.' 'Punkish hardcore.' What about 'Quintessential (expletive) band,' moron?

''What the (expletive) is wrong with you? Little redneck newspaper. Ooh, The Tennessean. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Whatever. You wouldn't know a (expletive) good show if it bit you in the (expletive).

''You and your senior citizen, little redneck (expletive) (expletive). Whatever, you know? Let's like … let's create it, let's judge it, you know? Like, 'Let's turn it into what it's supposed to be.' But you don't know (expletive). You and your (expletive) (expletive) paper. (Expletive) you.''

In other news, I really wanted to go to the Low show last night at 12th and Porter but didn't. Did anyone in the Nashville area go? How was it?

Wow

Wow, I just read this article by Woody Harrelson (yes, that Woody Harrelson) and I have to say I agree with a lot of what he is saying about the threat of war with Iraq. I've had friends that are Kurdish and have heard first hand at how horrible Saddam has treated his own people, but we will accomplish nothing if we choose to attack Iraq. Ugh.

Anyway, who knew Woody could write? :)

Classic!

I almost went to the Ryan Adams concert Monday night but decided not to. Looks like I missed some craziness:

People sometimes confuse petulant rocker Ryan Adams with Canadian hit-maker Bryan Adams, and apparently Ryan finds no humor in the moniker mix-ups. Monday, during Ryan's peculiar Ryman Auditorium show, an audience member jokingly shouted out a request for Bryan Adams' Summer of '69.

Ryan went ballistic: Spewing expletives, he ordered the house lights be turned on, asked the audience to point out the offender, pulled $30 of ticket refund money from his wallet and gave the money to the fan, ordered the fan to leave and said he would not play another note until the fellow was gone.

As dozens in the crowd shouted and pointed angrily at the Summer of '69 guy, Ryman General Manager Pam Matthews hustled down from the balcony and attempted to remedy the situation. She reached the ticket-holder as he was being escorted out by security, ''apologized profusely'' (her words) on behalf of the Ryman and eased the confrontation's aftermath.

With Ryan's tour manager's blessing, Summer of '69 guy was quietly relocated to the balcony. And he kept Ryan's $30.

Maybe the whole thing could have been averted if the dude had just requested Cuts Like A Knife or (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.

From The Tennessean.

busy bee

woah, not much to update lately. i've been quite busy working on the sigur ros site and also another project for a small indie film... also, my regular 9-5 work-for-the-man job has kept me active. ugh. i really wish i could start working for myself doing web/graphic design full-time. i'm nothing of a businessman so i guess that is what's holding me back. hopefully after some more part-time gigs, i'll be able to muster up the courage to do it.

hope all is well with everyone out there. i'm kinda tired of this wood thing i've got going on here. maybe i'll start on a redesign sometime next month.

Wowzers

Check out the films section at www.cauchemard.com and download the three videos. There's something really cool about the "Like Spinning Plates" one. I wish I could do that kind of stuff. :)

photos from today

Spent the better part of the day at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where the above s were taken. I feel 99% better so I kinda felt guilty about going to see my doctor and then to physical therapy when I didn't hurt at all. It felt like when your car is making a lot of noise and you take it to the mechanic and it doesn't make the noise for him. Hehe... Oh well. The physical therapist had me stretch in many different awkward positions which actually brought back the pain for a little bit. It was fun all around, I tell you.

In other news, thanks to Courtney, I got to hear some new Sigur Ros on her radio show tonight! Who would of thought that here in Nashville, you could turn on the radio and hear stuff like Sigur Ros? Pretty radical if you ask me. The song was what has been called "njósnalagid" which you may remember from Vanilla Sky. It sounds very similar to the live version so you won't be let down.

Ciao!
