The man in black

I've been a huge fan of Johnny Cash for some time and one of his albums is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I recently saw Cash's video for his cover of Nine Inch Nail's "Hurt" and let me tell you, this is one powerful video. I suggest you all take a look at it.

I'm going to go watch it again...

It looks like the new GP won't be ready before February. I haven't had much time to fiddle around with it due to other projects I'm working on, including one for w.a.s.t.e.. No ETA for GP, but it will come! :)

Reminisce

Oh, this reminds me of my days living outside of Oakland. Oh the memories...

Of course, I lived in San Leandro, which is just south of Oaktown and I really never saw any violence. It was a great little town. Living right next to the Ghirardelli chocolate factory was awesome! You would think the constant smell of chocolate would get annoying, but no... it was pretty cool.

I recall that you were there

Can you believe that it's almost February? I certainly cannot.

So anyway, things around here have been calm. Earlier in the week the weather was wicked cold and we had more snow on Thursday. They're calling for more tomorrow but will probably not amount to much. You see, here in Nashville, we don't really see that much snow so this Winter has been unusual. Not only that, but it really doesn't get this cold either. The high the other day was like 12 degrees! Next week will be warmer, fortunately. I write this while humming "California Dreamin'" and looking at exotic islands on TV. (sigh)

So 2003 will be the year that I finally stop procastinating and make the move back to California. It will happen... Mark my words here.

My brother Matt, who is in the Navy, emailed us saying that they recently left Turkey. Unfortunately, it looks as if he is getting closer to Iraq. I can only hope that a war is avoided.

Meanwhile, I've been trying to score tickets to the Coldplay concert here in Nashville on March 7th but they sold out like in 30 minutes the day they went on sale! What is that? March is going to be the month of great concerts! In addition to Coldplay, on March 8th I'm headed down to Athens, GA to see Godspeed You Black Emperor at the 40 Watt and then, of course, on March 26 will be Sigur Ros. I was really really really disappointed to find out that I missed the Swords Project when they visited Nashville last month. How could I miss that? I'm slipping in my old age.

Well, it's almost 3 am. I think I may try and go to sleep. The bright side of insomnia indeed...

Why so green and lonely?

So, there's supposed to be a new green plastic this month... well, i haven't had much time to work on it lately but things are coming along. I still hope to have it done before February. We'll see. :)

Urinal user interface design

The snow has all melted away, which is nice cause now I don't feel like I'm going to slide off the road whenever I drive to work.

Anyway, did you know that in some urinals there is a small fly printed near the drain to promote and encourage good aim? Read all about...

Iceland - The Future of Sound

I was watching Frontline/World on PBS tonight and they had a great segment on the music scene in Iceland. One of the bands they featured is called Apparat Organ Quartet, which is basically 4 guys who play spacey music on old organs. Pretty cool stuff.

There's a complimentary website which highlights all you need to know about Iceland's growing music scene.

On my way to London?

British Airways has got a great deal going on now where you can fly to London for as little as $109 each way and get 2 nights free at a hotel!

A trip to London would do me fine...

Safari

Well, I've been using Apple's Safari since Tuesday and I have to say that so far, I find it to be an excellent web browser. It's got some bugs but it's still a beta so no big whoop. I like where it's headed.

And how sweet are those new Powerbooks? Man oh man! The temptation is killing me.

Cough cough

DSCF0726.jpg

Two weeks of non-stop family and social gatherings have finally taken its toll on poor ole Jonathan. Feeling weak and with an annoying cough, I'm homebound taking it easy watching football and drifting in and out of sleep. I could use a vacation to some island.

I've been asked what my resolutions are for 2003 and honestly, I don't have any. Whatever happens, happens. I do hope that I can leave Nashville and find myself again. I've recently been given a map so all I need to do is find the right time.

Where do we go from here?

Happy New Year!

Happy 2003! It boggles my mind at how fast the years are going by.

2002 was a mixed bag for me. It wasn't a bad year but it wasn't a great one either. I have a strong feeling that 2003 will be a great one. Last night was magical and amazing... surrounded by people that I wanted to be with.

You know, it's amazing how in just a couple of days, things happen in a way that your outlook on life, love, and the future changes. Yes, I'm being vague... deal with it!

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful 2003!
